As Time Goes By

I’ve seen this amazing photo project called Invincible Cities by Camilo José Vergara before, but I have to admit I found the Flash interface irritating and cumbersome. Seeing the photos of just one storefront over time laid out, though, showed me what I had been missing. This is an incredibly deep resource—storefronts are photographed for decades, so you can watch time pass over a specific shop, house, or institution. There are sets for Harlem, NY; Richmond, CA; and Camden, NJ. I wish there were a better format for looking at these, but they are worth a look regardless.
